My earliest childhood memories are of drawing. It’s a lifelong passion that is still carried out today in my sketchbook journals. Childhood travels took me to the Samoan islands in the South Pacific and remote parts of Micronesia. There I experienced traditional South Pacific tapa design and painting. Bucks County, Pennsylvania was home base from which I moved to Seattle to earn a bachelors degree at the Cornish Institute of Arts – in illustration and graphic design.
While in school I worked at a small agency and after graduation opened my own design firm in Tacoma, Washington. Ten years later, I returned to the east coast and took the position of senior art director at an agency in Allentown, Pennsylvania producing award winning print and collateral pieces. In 1993, I went back to working for myself – freelance art direction, design and illustration.
When I am not working in the digital realm, I can be found outside with my easel and paints. Plein air watercolor painting is exhilarating! My style has evolved to combine my love of pen and ink drawing with the spontaneity of watercolor wash, reminiscent of the French Aquarelle style.
Whether the art I create is for the printed page or behind a frame, my goal is to capture the spirit of the subject matter – to tell a story.
